Over the last 18 years I’ve enjoyed working with a long roster of international clients on a diverse range of Illustration and design projects.

My career began as a commercial illustrator producing full colour silkscreen prints for newspapers and magazines.
My roots in printmaking still influence my current digital practice.

Working from my studio in London I use a montage of found & self-generated graphic material to produce assured vibrant images for the Publishing, Design and Advertising industries.

The versatility and flexibility of approach in my work enables me to create artful, yet appropriate visual solutions for my clients.

I thrive on a diverse range of projects. I enjoy responding to briefs from a variety of sectors, from fashion-orientated magazines to News and Current Affairs titles, through to advertising and design projects.

"For our magazine Matt illustrates the un-illustratable. He has produced beautiful vibrant images with a narrative, when our starting point is often no more than a poor quality black and white portrait. For a magazine celebrating opera and ballet, composers and dancers these illustrations have captured the essence perfectly."
Laura Hall, Art Director - The magazine of The Royal Opera House

“We needed a strong visual identity to mark BBC World Service's 75th anniversary; something which celebrated and captured our history as well as new technology and the continuing relevance of our organisation to audiences across the world. Matt really over delivered, producing a bold, inspirational illustration which we really capitalised on and used across numerous media and branded materials."
Jo McLeod - Editor, Marketing - BBC World Service

“Matt has consummate skill in finding solutions to illustrate to some of the most difficult of topics I have ever had to commission. Providing us with these brilliant visuals requires a very special mental agility which Matt has in abundance.”
Tony Mullins - Art Director The FT

"Matt is a talented and remarkable problem solver. With every assignment, he is somehow able to take our basic concept and exceed our very high expectations, effortlessly. For example, his solution for our 'Top Women in Business' cover was our best-selling issue in the history of the magazine, and I believe it's due to his masterful use of pop-art technique and bold use of colour."
Jennifer Tyson
Art Director - PINK Magazine - Atlanta

“Matt is a joy to work with, his skill, efficiency, and professionalism are only eclipsed by his "can-do" attitude. When we would send the 20th round of feedback, Matt would always surprise us and come back with an even better illustration. Anyone lucky enough to work with Matt will certainly be happy with the end-product.”
Jonathan Hesser
Art Director - The Richards Group

“Red have been commissioning Matt for the past few years. He adds a fantastic sense of humour to the magazine. He’s brilliant at coming up with his own ideas for features, as well as fulfilling some tough briefs we’ve given him. Above all, he’s creative and speedy – always hitting deadline.”
Hannah Vere - Art editor - Red Magazine
